After Care for PMU

Day 1: Gently blot the brow area with clean cotton balls or tissue. Repeat every 30-60 mins for the first 2 hours to absorb excess lymph fluid if there is any. Removing this fluid prevents early scabbing. Always remember to wash hands before blotting the brows.

Within 2-3 hours: Within 2-3 hours after the procedure wash your brows gently using a mild soap (Cetaphil). Don’t drench the brows with too much water and light pat the them down with a cotton ball. Let brows dry for 5 minutes and apply with a rice grain sized amount of ointment on brows using a Q-tip. Never have eyebrows drenched in water the first 10 days. Apply ointment once a day, twice if needed for the first 10 days. (Never use fingers to apply ointment)

What is to be avoided: Do not pick, rub, or scratch the brow area. Let any scabbing naturally exfoliate off. Do not use a wash cloth or anything abrasive. Do not use any cleansers containing acids (Glycolic, Lactic, or AHA). Avoid hot tubs, steam rooms, pool, ocean, direct sunlight, tanning beds, and facials for 2 weeks. Avoid sweaty exercise for 1 week. Avoid all make up (including foundation) in the eyebrow area.

In the next 30 days avoid: Sunbathing, Solarium, Light Therapy, Chemical Peels, Fruit Acids, Microdermabrasion, products with Glycolic Acid, and creams that contain regeneration factors. Always avoid laser treatments over the treated area (Fraxel, Laser, IPL) because they can destroy the pigments and cause burns. Use of antibiotics and hormone therapy can lead to faster pigment fading. Always protect the eyebrows from the sun with SPFs (NOT during the first 7 days).

Once the eyebrow area has fully peeled. The color will look a bit light in color. Do not critique your brows on Day 14. Give the ink time to rise back up on the surface of the skin. Brows will slowly start picking up more color within 14-28 days.

Remember: Do not pick or scratch at the dry skin/flakiness; let the skin fall off naturally. Picking can cause scarring. Once the treated area is completely healed, any changes or additions that need to be made can be done at your follow-up appointment.

There are no implied or written guarantees if you do not follow the above aftercare instructions

Important Reminders:

  • Use a fresh pillowcase

  • Let any scabbing or dry skin naturally exfoliate away. Picking can cause scarring or loss of color

  • No facials, botox, chemical treatments or microdermabrasion for 4 weeks

  • Avoid hot, sweaty exercise for 1 week

  • Avoid direct sun exposure or tanning for 4 weeks after procedure. Wear a hat when outdoors

  • Avoid heavy sweating and long hot showers for the next 10 days

  • Avoid sleeping on your face for the first 10 days

  • Avoid swimming, lakes, oceans, and hot tubs for the first 10 days

  • Avoid topical makeup including sunscreen on the area

  • DO NOT rub, pick or scratch the treated area

Important note about showering: Limit your showers to 5 minutes so you do not create too much steam. Keep your face/procedure out of the water while you wash your body, then, at the end of your shower, wash your hair for the first week.

Remember, with the proper prep and aftercare routine, you will have much better results with your semi-permanent procedure.
